As we grappled these past few weeks with the implications of the UK’s “New Ice Age”, I’m really proud of the way the IRIS team has swiftly responded to events to ensure we do everything we can to maintain service excellence, in pretty challenging circumstances. Most of our offices have remained open, obviously wherever possible and safe, many people have made it into work and above all else, remote access has come into its own.

Web conferencing, hosted services, remote technical access, e-learning, in fact all those services that we have been offering our clients for some time now, really come into their own, when you’re stuck in a snow bunker.
In the same way as economic downturns accelerate behavior change, it will be interesting to see if the “new ice age” makes us think more about whether travelling to that meeting was really necessary or could it have been achieved far more efficiently using the technology available and cutting out that wasted travelling time?
