Have you hugged an accountant today?
I’d like to wish all tax accountants, particularly the IRIS ones, a very Happy New Year. Whilst the world was out celebrating on 31st December, the tax accountants had a big deadline looming, which for many means a deferred celebration (or provision as they like to call it).
The 31st January on-line tax filing deadline has now passed and they can hopefully relax, safe in the knowledge that the HMRC has received the returns and celebrate the start of a New Year today on the 1st February, before the whole process starts again.
Despite their perceived caution, accountants leapt into on-line filing a few years ago and over the past few years, the numbers have risen dramatically. Last year, 5.8 million returns were successfully filed, of which 1/3 were via IRIS tax software (part of the IRIS accountancy practice management suite) and backed up by our superb tax support team.
So, don’t forget to wish your accountant a happy new year today and if a hug is justified, well, why not, surely they deserve it?
